live coding!!!

30/7/2025

so i've started this live coding summer camp which i thought i would hate because of how awful my first day was but after going back for the 2nd session i had a much better time.

incase you dont know what live coding is its basically where you make music by coding it. its like using garageband but im coding it all.

im using strudel to code the music nd im still trying to get the hang of it but i have found we can use real chords and scales!! it mde the whole expierence alot less intimidating.

this is the piece i made (with a partner) at the last session!! im only going to show a screenshot for now but later on i will try to put a video up.

sorry u have to zoom in!!!

next week we're going to focus on visuals!!! im super excited for that because i have so many ideas for it.

to tell a long story short - on my first day i definitely scared people off by "traumadumping" during lunch. idk these girls asked if anybody had any relationship drama stories and i decided to chime in but because i mentioned that my mum died while talking (nd i literally said it in passing) as well as basiclly coming out as a lesbian and stating i was poor. all at once. i think i scared ppl off.

later on that day, a girl i was sat next to earlier in the day did not want to look or talk to me after lunch - im not sure if she is homophobic or thinks i was being nice to her by way of flirting but it made me not want to come back.

i felt predatory and felt like i had said way too much, as well as not being able to get a word in during conversations.

but its over now. its all good. half the people i didnt want to interact with again didnt show up yesterday which calmed me down alot.

to see live coding in progress check these vids out!!!!!

dj dave and switchangel are probably the most well known artists in this space.

this performer was at last years summar camp! at the end of this, we will get to perform so this is a taster of what is in store
